The painter Willem Dooijewaard was an enthusiastic traveler. At an early age he traveled through Indonesia, Japan, Mongolia and Tibet. In a broad, smooth brushstroke he captured the life and color of these exotic countries. Even later, travel remained a regular element in his life. Figures occupy an important place in his oeuvre, while he also occasionally painted landscapes, cityscapes and the occasional flower still life. After 1932 he settled in Laren. In 1938 he lived for some time in Nice, where he painted numerous performances with ballerinas in the rehearsal rooms of the ballet school.
Viewing is of course possible. We also have our own in-house frame shop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary year. We also use restorers from the branch organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of them, please let us know.
