Original poster designed by Sean Scully for the French Open ( Roland Garros ) Tennis tournament in 2001 Color-Offset- Lithograph pressure-signed Published by Lelong Gallery , Paris 57 x 75 cm/ 22.5 "x 29.5" in good condition. Sean Scully (born June 30, 1945 in Dublin, Ireland) and assumed American citizenship in 1983. Today he lives and works in Königsdorf, Bavaria, Berlin, Barcelona and New York. From 1960 to 1962, he trained as a printer and worked in a graphic design studio. in 1965, he began his studies at Croydon College of Art in London. There he was initially interested in Van Gogh, Emil Nolde, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Henri Matisse, until he discovered abstract expressionism and Mark Rothko. This marked a turning point in his early work.From then on, he left the field of figurative painting and created abstract works. These usually consist of intersecting lines and bands of color that result in a complicated grid system. At this stage, the influence of Op Art cannot be overlooked.
