The iconic collection of glass birds designed by design pioneer Oiva Toikka for Iittala came out in 1972.
Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) was one of the biggest names in Finnish glass art.

Each bird is a unique art object that combines Toikka's passion for nature with the art of glassblowing.
Handmade and mouth-blown at the Iittala glass factory, the collection is a rich fusion of traditional glass art with the craftsmanship of Toikka and his team.
This abstraction of a "Nightjar" as a glass object has a long, thin beak and a short tail.
The dark green stripes around its slender body resemble the camouflage color that the feathers of the real whip-poor-will have.
Very imaginative, bold glass art.
