Description 'Flowerfields
Beautiful subtle use of color in this impressive painting by Nel Pot (1918-2011). Hand signed, dated 2008. Oil on canvas, dimensions approx. 100x100cm. Framed in gray aluminum frame with canvas cloth.
The condition of the painting is excellent.
Nel Pot (Neeltje Johanna) Pot, born in Vlaardingen in 1918, married FAA Fontein in 1953 and had 4 sons. Attended the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague and was a member of The Hague Art Circle, among others. Stayed and worked in Indonesia and from 1956 in the Netherlands. Until an advanced age she was very productive and made many canvases. She was also active in guiding young painting talents. She participated in hundreds of exhibitions at home and abroad.
In honor of her 90th birthday, a book was published in which about 70 of her works were displayed.
During the last years of her life, she was inspired by the flower bulb fields. The shades of color touched her deeply; she made a study of them and often painted until deep into the night, in her garden studio, in Leidschendam.
In that period she started to abstract the flower fields more and more. No longer in tabs tapered fields/lanes, but rather in width. The offered canvas is one of the last ones she painted. She herself was very enamored with it.
Unfortunately, her website in which all her works and exhibitions were shown has been dropped by mistake. However, there is a life movie with images and explanations of the choices of subjects she chose. This can be sent digitally to a new owner of the canvas.
