It is made of glass fibers randomly wrapped around an inflatable beach ball using epoxy resin, creating the distinctive and translucent 3D fabric. After the glass fibers cure, the inflatable beach ball is deflated and removed through the circular opening in the lamp.
We recently moved and in our new house the ceilings are not that high so this lamp doesn't really come into its own. We have always had a frosted bulb in the lamp. Hanging the lamp is a bit of a fiddle. You unscrew the top two parts, the nut and the top round plate, of the fixture. Then you place the rest of the fixture inside the bulb and pull the cord through any opening. Then you place the round plate and nut on the fixture and hang the lamp.In our previous home, the lamp hung above the dining table. We cleaned the lamp with lukewarm soapy water. That left no traces. Unfortunately, we no longer have the original shade for the ceiling.
Please note that the lamp cannot fit through a narrow doorway. You can transport the lamp in a car with the bench flat, where you may have to dent the lamp slightly to get it in. This is basically fine and leaves no trace.
