Large and beautifully designed handmade glass candlestick designed by Antonio Da Ros for Ars Cenedese Murano, Italy. Period: 1980s. The candleholder is of high quality and is made in the so-called sommerso technique, where colored threads, in this case deep purple/black, are fused (submerged) under a layer of transparent glass to create a layered effect. The candlestick is in very good condition, no cracks, chips or other damage. Suitable for candles with a diameter of up to 2.5 cm.
HxWxD: 36 x 10 x 10 cm.
Glass master Gino Cenedese founded his glass factory in 1946 together with the great masters Alfredo Barbini, Gino Fort, Angelo Tosi and Pietro Scaramal. In 1958 a very young Antonio Da Ros began working at Cenedese, experimenting, among other things, with new color effects in sommerso glass. At the 1960 Biennale, he presented the "Contrappunti," "tones" of sunken colors, which won him the prize for the glass art category.
