Iconic chair designed by architect Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, Denmark 1951. This is model No. 3100 and has teak seats and a tubular steel frame. Set consisting of two chairs and two shells without legs. Original version, dating from the late 1950s. About the design: The Ant™ chair's visual expression is delicate and artful, much like the curves of a musical instrument. Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1952, the chair is made from nine layers of pressure molded veneer. Its elegant shape disguises its remarkable strength and comfort. The three-legged Ant is inspired by the simple, agricultural stools created to stand firmly on uneven floors in Danish farmhouses. The chair beautifully exemplifies Jacobsen's understanding of the inherent strength of raw materials, consisting of only two parts: the combined seat and backrest in form-pressed plywood and a tubular steel frame."Traces of use on all chairs and parts. One chair and one shell are in nice condition. The others have dents here and there especially on the side of the backrest. The third shell shown in the photo is damaged and does not belong to the set.
