Velp, NetherlandsView all items from this sellerThis beautiful desk is designed in the well-known Amsterdam school style. The desk is characterized by the special details. The beautifully designed handles, wavy detail on the doors and the compartments on the sides of the desk. The desk was made in Rotterdam in early 1910 by the well-known furniture maker Salomon Speelman.
From at least 1892 to 1932, Salomon Speelman's furniture making/upholstery shop was located at Hoogstraat 200 in Rotterdam. An A-location in Rotterdam before the Second World War.
The design of this desk also partly shows details of the Hague school movement, but mainly the characteristic elements of the Amsterdam school. The original steel nameplate is on the back of the desk. All keys are present at the desk and the locks are in good working order.
The desk has three drawers, two compartments behind the left door and another three drawers behind the right door. The desk has been cleaned and provided with a thin layer of wax. The inlay on the top has been replaced once.
The possibly original office chair belongs to the desk and is included with the desk. This beautiful chair is designed in the same style and elegant. The leather is in reasonable condition.
