The Saarinen Tulip Dining Table from Knoll was designed by Eero Saarinen. Saarinen's idea to design a piece of furniture on a foot arose in 1953, because the disorder of the legs of tables and chairs annoyed him. After ten design drawings, he came up with a series of models that he developed on a 1:4 scale, suitable for a doll's house in order to discover the right effect in the space. Ultimately, he developed the prototypes, the manufacture of which involved a new production method. Knoll International presented the collection with central trumpet base in 1957 and still produces it today as an exclusive producer. The Saarinen Tulip Table is also on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
