With our purchase we received a certificate of authenticity. When selling, we are therefore happy to transfer it to the new owner.
Corneille was one of the founders and one of the most important representatives of the Cobra movement.
He was a very prolific artist and created an enormous amount of paintings, sculptures and graphics. Initially strongly influenced by Picasso, but later with the style characteristics of the Cobra that were very familiar to Corneille.
Corneille worked abstractly, but from about 1960 he worked figuratively with the well-known birds, women, and flowers as subjects.
Corneille's art was inspired in part by his many trips around the world to North Africa, North America, South America, and the Antilles, among other places. Corneille's Figurative works often include women, birds, flowers, and characters.On this wool rug, as the photo indicates, there are sometimes lint here and there.
